Six seminarians from the dioceses of Pittsburgh, Erie, Metuchen and Saint Vincent Archabbey were instituted into the ministry of acolyte on October 18, 2017 by Most Rev. James Checchio, Bishop of Metuchen at Saint Vincent Archabbey Basilica. The acolyte is instituted to serve at the altar and to assist the priest and deacon. Read More

Abbot Gregory Polan, O.S.B., the newly-elected Abbot Primate of the worldwide Benedictine Order, spoke at the 171st annual commencement of Saint Vincent Seminary, held on Friday, May 12, in the Saint Vincent Archabbey Basilica. Abbot Gregory, who, until his election as Abbot Primate, was the Abbot of Conception Abbey in Missouri, represents the International Federation of Benedictine Abbeys throughout the world. Eight Saint Vincent seminarians from three dioceses and one monastery will be instituted to the Ministry of Reader on Wednesday, March 29 by Most Rev. Ronald W. Gainer, D.D., J.C.L., Bishop of Harrisburg. Archabbot Douglas R. Nowicki, O.S.B.; Very Rev. Edward Mazich, O.S.B.; Rev. Patrick Cronauer, O.S.B., of Saint Vincent Seminary, faculty members and alumni will be among the concelebrants. The ministry of reader permits these seminarians to proclaim the readings (other than the Gospel) at Mass and other sacred celebrations. Read More
