Five Instituted To Ministry of Reader

Five Instituted To Ministry of Reader April 7

Five Saint Vincent seminarians were instituted to the Ministry of Reader on March 23 by Most Rev. Mark Bartchak, Bishop of Altoona-Johnstown. Most Rev. Roger Foys, Bishop of Covington; Archabbot Douglas R. Nowicki, O.S.B., Seminary chancellor; Very Rev. Timothy Whalen, rector of Saint Vincent Seminary; Rev. Patrick Cronauer, O.S.B., academic dean; faculty members and alumni were among the concelebrants.

The ministry of reader permits these seminarians to proclaim the readings at liturgy, but as Bishop Bartchak noted in his homily, they should also listen to the Scriptures that they are now permitted to read, and live it in their hearts as well.
