Seminarians Installed to Ministry of Acolyte


LATROBE, PENNSYLVANIA — Sixteen seminarians from seven dioceses and seven religious communities were installed in the Ministry of Acolyte on October 27 at Saint Vincent Seminary. The Most Rev. Joseph Kurtz, D.D., Bishop of Knoxville, presided over the installation, held at Saint Vincent Archabbey Basilica, Latrobe.Installed were Br. Maurus Mount, O.S.B., Saint Vincent Archabbey; Timothy Kruthaupt and Alan Polczynski, Diocese of Greensburg; Joseph Carr, Diocese of Pittsburgh; Douglas Ondeck, Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston; James Campbell, Diocese of Erie; Keith Heise, Diocese of Columbus; Aron Maghsoudi and Charles Ugo, Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown; Mark Gallipeau and Br. Gabriel Rapisarda, C.M.M.I., members of religious orders from the Diocese of Steubenville; H. Alejandro Ayala, Diocese of Charlotte; Br. Marion Charboneau, O.S.B., Saint Benedict’s Abbey, Atchison, Kansas; Br. Paul Paproski, O.S.B., Saint Peter’s Abbey, Muenster, Saskatchewan, Canada; Br. Marcel Longe, O.S.B., Saint Andrew Abbey, Cleveland, Ohio; Br. Mark Purcell, O.S.B., Mary Mother of the Church Abbey, Richmond, Virginia.The acolyte is appointed to attend to the service of the altar and to assist the deacon and the priest in liturgical celebrations, especially the Mass. He is also permitted to distribute communion as an extraordinary minister.


Brother Maurus Mount, O.S.B., is the son of Frank E. and Alina M. Mount of Indialantic, Florida. He is a 1996 graduate of Melbourne High School and earned a bachelor of arts degree in classical languages from Marquette University in 2000. His brother is Michael C. Mount of Indialantic.

He entered the novitiate at Saint Vincent Archabbey in July of 2001, and made his first vows on July 10, 2002. In 2002 he was named assistant guestmaster and assistant master of ceremonies/sacristan.


Timothy J. Kruthaupt is the son of Janet F. Kruthaupt of Littleton, Colorado and the late Francis J. Kruthaupt. He is a 1970 graduate of Roger Bacon High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in economics from Western State College of Colorado in 1974 and a juris doctor degree from Salmon P. Chase College of Law in 1980.

Alan N. Polczynski is the son of Sylvester and Rose Polczynski of Lower Burrell. He is a 1984 graduate of Burrell Senior High School. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in theater arts from Point Park College in 1989.


Joseph A. Carr is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Carr of Pittsburgh. He is a 1975 graduate of Central Catholic High School in Pittsburgh and earned a bachelor of science degree in journalism from West Virginia University in 1980. He has done graduate studies in philosophy and pre-theology at Duquesne University and at the Heinz School of Public Policy and Management at Carnegie Mellon University.


Douglas A. Ondeck is the son of Andrew F. and Mary E. Ondeck of Wheeling, West Virginia. He is a 1988 graduate of John Marshall High School, Glendale, West Virginia. He studied at the Pontifical College Josephinum, Columbus, Ohio, from 1997 to 1999. He received a bachelor of arts degree in Catholic Theology from Saint Vincent College in 2002.


James C. Campbell is The son of John P. and Dolores M. Campbell of Erie. He is a 1998 graduate of Cathedral Preparatory School in Erie and a 2002 graduate of Gannon University, with a bachelor of science degree in mathematics and philosophy.


Keith M. Heise is the son of John and Paula Heise of Lancaster, Ohio. He is a 1998 graduate of Bloom Carroll High School, Carroll, Ohio and earned a bachelor of arts degree in philosophy from Pontifical College Josephinum in 2002.


Aron M. Maghsoudi is the son of M. Abraham Maghsoudi of Vienna, Virginia and Colleen A. Carr of Ligonier. He is a 1998 graduate of Greater Latrobe High School. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in religious education from Saint Vincent College in 2002, cum laude.Charles C. Ugo is the son of Mrs. Cordelia Chizuba Ugo of Nigeria and the late Kevin Ugo. He is a 1995 graduate of Nguru Secondary Commercial School, Nigeria, and earned a bachelor of philosophy and R.A. degree from Claretian Institute of Philosophy in Nigeria in 2000.


Mark Gallipeau of the Community of Sacred and Immaculate Hearts is the son of Robert B. and Mary E. Gallipeau of Groton, Massachusetts. He is a 1974 graduate of Groton Senior High, and earned a bachelor of arts degree in philosophy from Franciscan University of Steubenville, Ohio, in 2002.


Br. Gabriel J. Rapisarda, C.M.M.I., is the son of Gregory A. and Carol A. Rapisarda of Bel Air, Maryland. He is a 1995 graduate of John Carroll School, Bel Air. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in history from Franciscan University of Steubenville in 2000. He studied theology at Creighton University Institute for Priestly Formation.


Alejandro Ayala of Ashville, North Carolina is the son of Elena Beatriz Pena of Argentina and the late Horacio Gilberto Ayala. He is a 1978 graduate of Colegio Nacional “Bartolomé Mitre.” He attended the Universidad del Norte “Santo Tomás de Aquino” in Argentina from 1979 to 1980.


Br. Marion M. Charboneau, O.S.B., is the son of Donald Charboneau of Council Grove, Kansas and the late Joyce Charboneau. He is a 1989 graduate of Council Grove High School. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in history in 1993 and a master of arts degree in American History in 1995 from Emporia State University, Kansas.


Br. Paul B. Paproski, O.S.B. of St. Peter’s Abbey, Muenster, Saskatchewan, is the son of Ardel and Freda Paproski of Hudson Bay, Saskatchewan. He is a 1981 graduate of Hudson Bay Composite High School. He studied journalism at the University of Saskatchewan from 1981 to 1983 and earned a degree in journalism in 1985 from the University of Regina.


Br. Marcel J. Longe, O.S.B., is the son of Eleanior M. Longe of Palmer, Massachusetts, and the late Gordon K. Longe. He is a 1992 graduate of Pathfinder Regional Vocational Technical High School in Palmer. He is a1996 graduate of Holyoke Community College, where he received an associate degree in criminal justice, and a 1999 graduate of Franciscan University of Steubenville, where he received a bachelor of arts degree in philosophy and theology. He has also attended graduate school at John Carroll University, University Heights, Ohio.


MARY MOTHER OF THE CHURCH ABBEY, RICHMOND, VIRGINIAthe son of Frank X. and Christine T. Purcell of Codville, Ohio. He is a 1989 graduate of Parkersburg High School, Parkersburg, West Virginia. He earned a bachelor of science degree in education, with a major in mathematics, from Ohio University, Athens, Ohio, in 1994.
