2017 Ministry of Reader

Eight Saint Vincent seminarians from three dioceses and one monastery will be instituted to the Ministry of Reader on Wednesday, March 29 by Most Rev. Ronald W. Gainer, D.D., J.C.L., Bishop of Harrisburg. Archabbot Douglas R. Nowicki, O.S.B.; Very Rev. Edward Mazich, O.S.B.; Rev. Patrick Cronauer, O.S.B., of Saint Vincent Seminary, faculty members and alumni will be among the concelebrants. The ministry of reader permits these seminarians to proclaim the readings (other than the Gospel) at Mass and other sacred celebrations.

DIOCESE OF ERIE

John A. Hepinger of Erie is the son of Virginia Smith of Erie and the late John Hepinger. He is a 2009 graduate of Villa Maria Academy in Erie. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in philosophy from Gannon University in Erie in 2016.

Joseph A. Petrone of Erie is the son of Joseph Petrone, Sr., and Cheryl Petrone of Erie. He is a 2009 graduate of Iroquois Senior High School, Erie. After graduation he attended Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, studying aerospace engineering, before transferring to Gannon University in Erie, where he earned a bachelor of science degree in biology and a bachelor of arts degree in philosophy.

DIOCESE OF METUCHEN

Gustavo Rodríguez-Perez is the son of Gustavo Rodríguez Holguin and Maria del Pérez Zuñiga of Cali, Colombia. He graduated in 2003 from the Instituto Comercial Arquidiocesano, and earned a licentiate in philosophy in 2011 from Universidad Minuto de Dios, Bogota.

DIOCESE OF PITTSBURGH

Kristian O. Sherman is the son of Eric A. and Christine M. Falchetti of Chandler, Arizona. He is a 2009 graduate of Butler High School and earned a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Duquesne University in 2014. Additionally, he completed two years of philosophy studies at Duquense.

Joseph S. Uzar, Jr., is the son of Joseph S. Uzar, Sr., and Diana L. Uzar of Carnegie. He is a 2012 graduate of Carlynton Junior-Senior High School, Carnegie, and earned a bachelor of arts degree in philosophy from Duquesne University, Pittsburgh, in 2016.

SAINT VINCENT ARCHABBEY

Brother Ignatius Camello, O.S.B., is the son of Reynaldo and Desideria Camello of Cotabato City, the Philippines. He attended Notre Dame Elementary School and graduated from Notre Dame High School for Boys in 1988, both in the Philippines. He earned a bachelor of science degree in nursing from Notre Dame University, Cotabato City, the Philippines, in 1992.

Brother Matthew D. Hershey, O.S.B., is the son of Bob and Mary Hershey of State College. He is a graduate of State College Area High School. He earned a degree in special education from Franciscan University of Steubenville in 2008. He began studies at Saint Vincent Seminary in the fall of 2014.

Brother Mark L. Liatti, O.S.B., is the son of Lloyd and Kathleen Liatti of Lyndhurst, Ohio. He graduated from Saint Joseph High School in 1983. He earned a bachelor of science degree in math and physics from the University of Dayton in 1987, a master of science degree in math from Auburn University in 1991 and a doctorate in math from Auburn in 2002. He served in the United States Navy from 1992 to 1994.
