2020 Ministry of Lector

Nine seminarians were instituted into the Ministry of Lector on Wednesday, March 18, by Most Rev. Roger J. Foys, Bishop of the Diocese of Covington, Kentucky. The ministry of lector permits these seminarians to proclaim the readings (other than the Gospel) at Mass and other sacred celebrations. The seminarians, who are in the first year of theology studies, are from Brooklyn, New York; Covington, Kentucky; and Altoona-Johnstown, Erie, Greensburg, Pittsburgh and Saint Vincent Archabbey in Pennsylvania.

The institution was held in an empty Basilica right before seminarians returned home to their dioceses or abbeys due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Only those instituted and those having a role in the Mass were in attendance.
