Saint Vincent Seminary will host Dr. Michael Waldstein, who will speak on the significance of Pope John Paul II’s monumental work on theological anthropology: Theology of the Body. The lecture will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, in the Carey Performing Arts Center on the Saint Vincent campus. It is free and open to the public. Dr. Waldstein has recently published the definitive English translation of this work entitled, Man and Woman He Created Them: A Theology of the Body. Additionally, he has written the 125 page “Introduction” to the work, which is considered to be a great contribution to the study of the writings of Pope John Paul II.

Dr. Waldstein is a Distinguished Fellow of The Saint Paul Center for Biblical Theology and the Francis of Assisi Professor of New Testament at the International Theological Institute for Studies on Marriage and the Family in Gaming, Austria. He is a current member of the Pontifical Council for the Family.

Dr. Waldstein has written widely on the subject of the New Testament and Christian origins, and has published numerous scholarly articles related to the thought of St. Thomas Aquinas and Hans Urs von Balthasar. Dr. Waldstein holds a doctoral degree in philosophy from the University of Dallas, a license in Sacred Scripture (SS.L) from the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome, and a doctoral degree in theology (Th.D.) from Harvard University. He and his wife Susan live in Gaming, Austria with their eight children.
