The spring 2025 issue of Leaven takes a look at the spring break pilgrimage to Greece and Turkey to follow in the footsteps of Saint Paul. Seminarian Erik Pintar of the Diocese of Pittsburgh blogged about the trip and shared his photos. The passing of former Board Chairman Dr. James V. Maher is noted, as is the loss of several priest-alumni. The magazine recounts the fall Pope Benedict XVI Lecture by Dr. Matthew Ramage on “Sin and Suffering, Joseph Ratzinger, Human Origins, the Fall.” There is news from the Seminary’s Institute for Ministry Formation, on the Seminary’s reaccreditation, photos and dates of priests and deacons to be ordained this spring, and the annual report. The usual Seminary News & Notes looks at alumni appointments, including one who was named vicar general of his diocese, and provides more news of people and activities. The issue was sent to press February 28 and arrived in mailboxes around April 30. Thus the back cover announces the commencement speaker of Cardinal Seán Patrick O’Malley, O.F.M. Cap., as did invitations sent out prior to the passing of Pope Francis on April 21. Thus, the Cardinal will be at the Conclave of Cardinals in Rome and unable to attend this year’s event. Hopes are that he will visit Saint Vincent Seminary in the future.
