Seminary Welcomes New Students

Saint Vincent Seminary welcomed 13 new students on August 17, studying for ordination to the priesthood, in the ecclesial ministry program as well as the master of arts program and for continuing education.

DIOCESE OF ALTOONA-JOHNSTOWN

John M. Roy of Johnstown is the son of Roger Roy Jr. and Terri Roy of Johnstown. He is a 2015 graduate of Mother of Divine Grace School, Ojai, California and had a double major in the bachelor of arts program in mathematical science and philosophy at the Franciscan University of Steubenville, Ohio.

DIOCESE OF BROOKLYN

Brendon J. Harfmann of Glendale, New York, is the son of Lawrence and Kim Harfmann of Glendale. He is a 2012 graduate of Cathedral Preparatory Seminary, Elmhurst, New York. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in philosophy/theology from Saint John’s University, Jamaica, New York, in 2016, and has also studied at Saint Joseph’s Seminary.

DIOCESE OF COVINGTON

Henry F. Bischoff of Edgewood, Kentucky, is the son of Matthew and Cynthia Bischoff of Edgewood. He is a 2011 graduate of Covington Latin School. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in communication studies from Northern Kentucky University in 2015.

Joshua D. Heskamp of Elsmere, Kentucky, is the son of David and Therese Heskamp of Wadsworth, Ohio. He is a 2006 graduate of Wadsworth High School. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in philosophy from the University of Akron in 2010. He has also studied philosophy at Franciscan University of Steubenville, Ohio State University, and been enrolled in paralegal studies at Cuyahoga Community College, Parma, Ohio.

Michael J. Schulte of Minot Air Force Base, North Dakota, is a 2016 gradaute of Covington Catholic High School, Park Hills, Kentucky. He has also studied at Minot State University, Minot, North Dakota. His parents are Joseph and Teresa Schulte of Crestwood, Kentucky.

Justin H. Schwarz of Renton, Washington, is the son of Paul and Thu Huong Schwarz of Renton. He is a 2016 graduate of Kennedy Catholic High School, Bunen, Washington. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in philosophy/theology from the Franciscan University of Steubenville in 2020.

Bradley S. Whittle of Union, Kentucky, is the son of Scott and Elaine Whittle of Union. He is a 2015 graduate of Saint Henry District High School, Erlanger, Kentucky. He earned a bachelor of science degree in education from the University of Cincinnati in 2020.

DIOCESE OF GREENSBURG

Mark A. Ferlin is a student in the Ecclesial Ministry program. He is a graduate of Greensburg Central Catholic High School and earned a bachelor of science degree in geology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1983. He obtained a master of science degree in hydrogeology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1993. He earned a certificate in pastoral ministry from Seton Hill University, Greensburg, in 2019. He and his wife Kathy live in Latrobe.

Jerome (J.T.) Tuskan of New Kensington is a student in the Ecclesial Ministry program. He is a graduate of German Township High School, McClellandtown. He earned a bachelor of arts degree from Pennsylvania State University in journalism in 1976, and completed the pastoral certificate program from Seton Hill University, Greensburg, in 2020.

DIOCESE OF PITTSBURGH

Nicholas R. Clinton of Allison Park is the son of Joel and Lorraine Clinton of Allison Park. He is a 2013 graduate of Hampton High School, Allison Park. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in philosophy from Grove City College, Grove City, in 2017 and has also studied theology at the Catholic University of America.

SAINT VINCENT ARCHABBEY

Brother Francisco Whittaker, O.S.B., of Saint Vincent Archabbey, is the son of Daniel and Kathleen Whittaker of Grove City. He is a 2015 graduate of Mother of Divine Grace School, Ojai, California. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in biochemistry from Saint Vincent College in 2019.

MASTER OF ARTS

Katie L. Zuzik of Greensburg is the daughter of John and Rebecca Zuzik of Greensburg. A 1999 graduate of Mt. Zion High School, Mt. Zion, Illinois, she has a bachelor of arts degree in English-writing, cum laude, from Milikin University, Decatur, Illinois, graduating in 2003. She earned a pastoral ministry certificate in 2011 and a bachelor of music degree in sacred music and religious studies, cum laude, in 2012 from Seton Hill University, Greensburg.

CONTINUING EDUCATION

Timothy J. Sheridan of Willowick, Ohio, is a 1982 graduate of Northwestern High School, Salem, Ohio. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in communication from Notre Dame College, Cleveland and John Carroll University. He has also attended Saint Mary Seminary and Graduate School of Theology.
