Sixteen Installed to Ministry of Reader

LATROBE, PENNSYLVANIA – Sixteen seminarians attending Saint Vincent Seminary were recently installed in the Ministry of Reader by the Most Rev. Gilbert I. Sheldon, Bishop of Steubenville, Ohio, at Saint Vincent Archabbey Basilica, Latrobe. The seminarians, from nine dioceses and two abbeys, were installed on March 12.

They were Br. Boniface Patrick Hicks, O.S.B., Saint Vincent Archabbey; Sean M. Francis and Peter G. MacLellan, Diocese of Pittsburgh; Eric Read Filmer, Diocese of Savannah; Richard Anthony Holdorf, Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston; Steven William Fauser, and Michael W. Rothan, Diocese of Harrisburg; David J. Young, Diocese of Columbus; Michael Francis Barrett, Henry Christopher Foxhoven and Timothy John Kozak, Diocese of Steubenville; Samuel Odeh and John Paul Otanwa, Via Christi Society, Makurdi, Nigeria; Ricardo Jose De Silva, Diocese of Charlotte; Viliamu Emanuele, Diocese of Mandeville, Jamaica; Br. Gabriel Landis, O.S.B., Saint Benedict’s Abbey.

SAINT VINCENT ARCHABBEYBr. Boniface P. Hicks, O.S.B., is the son of William and Mary Hicks of Burke, Virginia. He is a 1993 graduate of Lake Braddock Secondary School. He earned a bachelor of science degree in computer science from Penn State University in 1998 and a master of science degree in computer science from Penn State in 1998.

DIOCESE OF PITTSBURGHSean M. Francis is the son of Paul and Ann Francis of Allison Park, Pennsylvania. He is a 1990 graduate of North Allegheny High School, Wexford. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in philosophy from Duquesne University in 2000.Peter G. MacLellan of Pittsburgh is the son of Joseph R. MacLellan of Sayville, New York and the late Mary Ann MacLellan. He is a 1980 graduate of Sayville High School. He earned a bachelor of science degree in philosophy and biology from the State University of New York, Brockport, New York. He has also done graduate work at Duquesne University.

DIOCESE OF SAVANNAHEric R. Filmer of the Diocese of Savannah, Georgia, is the son of Charles H. Filmer of Savannah, Georgia, and the late Robin L. Harrison. He is a 1984 graduate of Hershel V. Jenkins High School, Savannah, Georgia. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in psychology in 1997 from Armstrong Atlantic State University. He also attended Savannah College of Art and Design.

DIOCESE OF WHEELING-CHARLESTONRichard A. Holdorf is the son of Anita Holdorf of Fort Lauderdale, Florida and the late Donald F. Holdorf, Sr. He is a 1969 graduate of W.G. Enloe High School, Raleigh, North Carolina. He earned a bachelor of science degree in pharmacy from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, in 1975.

DIOCESE OF HARRISBURGSteven W. Fauser is the son of Geraldine and William D. Fauser of Turbotville, Pennsylvania. He is a 1994 graduate of Warrior Run High School, Turbotville. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in French and German from Millersville University in 1998.Michael W. Rothan of the Diocese of Harrisburg is the son of Richard and Mary Anna Rothan of Strasburg, Pennsylvania. He is a 1991 graduate of Lancaster Catholic High School and earned a bachelor of science degree in biology from Shippensburg University in 1995. He also earned a teacher certification from Millersville University in 1996.

DIOCESE OF COLUMBUSDavid J. Young is the son of Richard E. and Jeanne M. Young of Columbus. He is a 1996 graduate of St. Francis DeSales High School in Columbus. He studied philosophy at Ohio State University and earned a bachelor of arts degree in philosophy from the Pontifical College Josephinum, Columbus.

DIOCESE OF STEUBENVILLEMichael F. Barrett is the son of William H. Barrett, Jr., and Sandy Barrett of Kenton, Ohio. He is a 1994 graduate of Kenton Senior High School. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in theology from Franciscan University of Steubenville in 1998.Henry Christopher Foxhoven is the son of Henry F. and Arlene M. Foxhoven of Bloomingdale, Ohio. He attended Harlan Community High School in Harlan, Iowa, and graduated in 1994 from Our Lady of the Rosary Home-School. He received a bachelor of arts degree in theology from Franciscan University of Steubenville in 1999.Timothy J. Kozak is the son of Mike and Rose Marie Kozak of Barberton, Ohio. He is a 1975 graduate of Barberton High School, Barberton, Ohio. He earned a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering from the University of Akron, Ohio, in 1980.

VIA CHRISTI SOCIETY, DIOCSE OF MAKURDI, NIGERIASamuel Odeh is the son of Justina A. Odeh of Otukp, Nigeria and the late Boniface E. Odeh. He is a 1993 graduate of Mt. St. Gabriel’s Secondary School, Makurdi, Nigeria. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in philosophy from St. Thomas Aquinas Major Seminary, Makurdi, in 1998.John-Paul A. Otanwa is the son of Boniface and Patricia Otanwa of Makurdi, Nigeria. He is a 1996 graduate of Mount Saint Gabriel Secondary School, Makurdi. He attended St. Thomas Aquinas Seminary in Makurdi from 1997 to 2000.

DIOCESE OF CHARLOTTERicardo J. De Silva is the son of Leticia De Silva of Panama and the late Adolfo De Silva. He is a 1983 graduate of Colegio La Salle, Panama City. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in journalism from Radford University, Virginia, in 1991.

DIOCESE OF MANDEVILLE, JAMAICAViliamu V. Emanuele is the son Emanuele Lilo and Akenese Lilo of Savaii, Western Samoa. He is a 1984 graduate of St. Peter Chanel High School, Western Samoa. He majored in philosophy at Moamoa Theological College and the College of St. Thomas.

SAINT BENEDICT ABBEYBr. Gabriel A. Landis is the son of Sam and Shirley Landis of Wichita, Kansas and the late Carole Landis. He is a 1981 graduate of Wichita East High School. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in finance from Wichita State University in 1986 and a master of arts degree in management from Webster University in 1994.
