Two Instituted Into Ministry Of Lector

On Wednesday, May 6,  seminarians Anh Tan Nguyen and Van Vien Nguyen from the Archdiocese of Hanoi were instituted into the Ministry of Lector by Archabbot Martin de Porres Bartel, O.S.B., at Saint Vincent Archabbey Basilica. 

Tam Nguyen of the Archdiocese of Hanoi is a 2009 graduate of My Tho High School, Nam Dinh, Vietnam. He studied computer science at Hanoi University of Science and Technology. He is the son of Dinh Tien Nguyen and Chin Thi Luu of Dam Dinh, Vietnam.

Vien Nguyen of the Archdiocese of Hanoi is a 2011 graduate of Nguyen Khuyen High School, Nam Dinh, Vietnam. He studied law at Vietnam National Univeristy of Law. He is the son of Vinh Nguyen and Xuyen Tran of Nam Dinh.

The Lector is to read the word of God in the liturgical assembly. Accordingly, he is to proclaim the readings from sacred Scripture, except for the gospel in the Mass and other sacred celebrations; he is to recite the psalm between the readings when there is no psalmist; he is to present the intentions for the general intercessions in the absence of a deacon or cantor.
