New Students at Seminary

LATROBE, PA. — There are 21 new students studying for the priesthood this year at Saint Vincent Seminary in Latrobe, Pennsylvania.

 

Saint Vincent Seminary in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, has graduated and prepared more than 2,300 men for the priesthood since its founding by Boniface Wimmer, O.S.B., in 1846. Today, the Seminary serves 13 dioceses, and the two archdioceses of Atlanta, Georgia and Campinas, Brazil. Dioceses with students currently at the seminary are Altoona-Johnstown, Erie, Greensburg, Harrisburg and Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania; Charleston, South Carolina; Charlotte, North Carolina; Savannah, Georgia; Tulsa, Oklahoma; Wheeling-Charleston, West Virginia and Columbus, Steubenville and Youngstown in Ohio. There are also eight Benedictine monasteries with students at the seminary include Saint Bernard Abbey, Cullman, Alabama; Holy Cross Abbey, Canon City, Colorado; Saint Bede Abbey, Peru, Illinois; Saint Benedict Abbey, Atchison, Kansas; Saint Gregory Abbey, Shawnee, Oklahoma ; Saint Mary’s Abbey, Delbarton, Morristown, New Jersey; Saint Procopius Abbey, Lisle, Illinois and Saint Vincent Archabbey, as well as one member of the Pittsburgh Oratory congregation and a member of the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal.

 

Saint Vincent Seminary seeks to provide these seminarians with a strong priestly formation process of good spiritual direction, solid academics and sound pastoral experience.

Fowler of the Diocese of Charlotte; Peter Haladej of the Diocese of Youngstown; Br. Boniface P. Hicks, O.S.B., of Saint Vincent Archabbey; Br. Cajetan P. Homick, O.S.B., of Saint Vincent Archabbey; Matthew J. Kujawinski of the Diocese of Erie; Br. Ignatius Kury, O.S.B., of Saint Vincent Archabbey; Br. Bartholomew L. Landry, O.S.B., of Saint Bernard Abbey; Edward Mazich, O.S.B., of Saint Vincent Archabbey; Br. Gregory D. Montagna, C.F.R., is a Franciscan Friar ; Kevin G.
