Seminary Scholarship Dinner May 4

LATROBE, PENNSYLVANIA —Father William J. Fay, Vice Rector of Saint Vincent Seminary, will be the keynote speaker at the Seminary’s annual Scholarship Dinner, to be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 4, at Churchill Valley Country Club.

The annual dinner raises funds to provide scholarship aid for students who are preparing to be priests. “Saint Vincent Seminary has been preparing priests for the Church for 153 years,” said Father Thomas P. Acklin, O.S.B., Rector. “We ask for your prayers and for your support to continue this tradition of educating and preparing our future priests for pastoral service.”

Father Fay has been a member of the Saint Vincent Seminary faculty and administration since 1994. He serves as Vice Rector and Associate Professor of Sacred Scripture at the Seminary. He is a 1961 graduate of Saint Vincent College, where he earned the bachelor of arts degree. He received the S.T.L. in 1965 from the Gregorian University, Rome, Italy; the Master of Education Degree from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh in 1970; the Master of Arts Degree in Semitic Languages from Catholic University in Washington D.C. in 1973 and the S.S.L. from the Pontifical Biblical Institute, Rome, in 1975.

Before coming to Saint Vincent, Father Fay was pastor of St. Sebastian Parish, Pittsburgh from 1991 to 1994 and prior to that he was Professor of Sacred Scripture at St. Joseph Seminary, Yonkers, New York, from 1988 to 1991. He has also served as a lecturer in the Graduate School of Theology, St. Charles Borromeo Seminary, Philadelphia (1976-1988); vice rector of Mount Saint Mary’s Seminary, Emmitsburg, Maryland (1975-1988); lecturer in theology at La Roche College, Allison Park (1967-1970); and assistant pastor of St. Sebastian Parish, Pittsbugh (1965-1970).For ticket or additional information, please contact the Seminary Deveopment Office at 724-537-4552.
